Intro to STARSkate
This is a group figure skating lesson program
for youth, with some optional ice time available for the
private lessons. The skater receives group instruction
from coaches arranged by the club. There is also pre-scheduled
ice available when a skater can receive individualized
instruction from a coach of their choice, paid for by
the parent. A Program Assistant will supervise skaters
during practice time. All skaters will be working towards
completing Skate Canada STARSkate Tests. Tests will be
tried on scheduled ‘test days’, listed under
Test Days in the LWC calendar. Please refer to the registration
form for more details regarding time and length of each
package offered.
It is recommended that skaters should
have a minimum of the CanSkate Stage 4 badge or at the
recommendation of your CanSkate coach. Must not have
passed any complete Skate Canada test.
Level 1 and Level 2
During Level 1 and Level 2 sessions,
the skater receives concentrated individualized instruction
from a coach, with the aim of completing a series of Skate
Canada Tests in Skills, Freeskate and Dance The skater
purchases the scheduled ice time from Loyalist Winter
Club and arranges private lessons with a coach of their
choice. Level 1 and Level 2 skaters may purchase partial
packages – see session selection – but those
selecting full packages with receive priority when filling
sessions.
Level 1
Working on Preliminary and Junior Bronze Freeskate,
Skills and Dances. Must have completed all CanSkate
Badge Levels.
Level 2
Working on Junior Bronze Freeskate and must have passed
both the complete Junior Bronze Dance and Skills Test.
