Loyalist Winter Club – A
New Season, A New Beginning!!
Excitement is in the Air
On behalf of the executive board, I
would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to
the 2009-2010 skating season at Loyalist Winter Club. For
those of you returning to our club this year, you will see
some new faces around the office and the arena during our
program times. We have been very fortunate to recruit
several new volunteers who have come on board bringing with
them lots of fresh, fun and exciting ideas to spice up life
at LWC. Along with these new ideas, we are also hoping for
the opportunity to offer a “warmer” skating environment for
our members and their families due to the addition of a
desiccant dehumidification system within the complex.....and
the plan for new heaters as well. Let’s all keep our
fingers crossed!
For those of you who are not aware, LWC
is strictly a nonprofit, 100% volunteer run organization
affiliated with Skate Canada. The volunteers you will see
and meet around the club office are all parents of current
or former skaters enrolled in one of the programs we offer.
Our programs range from a beginner CANskate, learn to skate
level, up to our STARskate levels; levels which provide
introduction and advancement into the sport of figure
skating under the guidance of private coaches. Any
assistance you may wish to volunteer at any time throughout
the year, towards assisting us in running our programs,
whether it is a little or a lot, would be greatly
appreciated.
Being a member of Loyalist Winter Club
means you are also a member of Skate Canada. When you/your
child register for a program at our club, as a member, you
will enjoy benefits such as:
-
Badges
-
stickers
-
tattoos
-
colouring sheets
-
fundraising fun (see
back of this letter for more information)
-
club newsletters (valuable
information and updates on all the upcoming events)
-
progress updates and report
cards
-
special CANskate events and
club functions (theme

year Ice Show)
-

-
opportunity to participate
in a positive healthy lifestyle activity
As members of the board, we would
appreciate and encourage anyone, at anytime during the
season, to bring forward any suggestions they may have to
offer, whether it be fun ideas or ideas to improve any areas
of the club. Your opinions are valuable to us and to the
success of our club. Please feel free at anytime during the
year, to approach any of our board members, drop your
suggestions off in our club mail slot or email your thoughts
to
lwcskatingcontact@yahoo.com. Our communication to our
members will be largely through email so please check your
emails frequently so as not to miss out on any of the
activities at the club. We are striving to make this year a
successful one by providing all of our members with not only
the opportunity to advance their skating skills but also the
chance to have a lot of fun during the time they and their
families spend at the arena with us.
A warm
welcome to all and we will see everyone at the rink

President, Loyalist Winter Club.
